Healthy Snack List For the Summer #3

We’re in the last stretch of summer 2021 – it’s August! It’s been a summer that’s either been very hot or rainy, much like previous summers have been, especially in Texas. For a lot of people, it’s been a harsh summer to get through, and huge, ongoing issues such as the COVID-19 pandemic haven’t helped either. However, there’s been plenty of people who have found ways to have fun and enjoy themselves despite the discomfort of the weather and the pandemic. As we’ve outlined previously in this series of articles, a big source of nutritious fun for people are healthy snacks!

We’re going to close out our summer articles about healthy snacks with some good items. We will start with a less sugary ice cream alternative…

1. Low-Fat Yogurt

While ice cream has its huge amount of defenders, there’s plenty to like about low-fat yogurt.

Yogurt’s taste can be sweet in a variety of different ways, it doesn’t melt, and you can enjoy it frozen or fresh. Yogurt also has health benefits, being a strong source of calcium, which supports tooth and bone health.

Many yogurts also contain an abundance of protein, which is another nutritional advantage the food type has over ice cream.

2. Peanuts

While most people without peanut allergies can appreciate a good peanut butter sandwich, plain, regular peanuts have a lot to offer in terms of taste and health benefits as well.

Peanuts, especially unsalted ones, are a good snack because of their satisfying taste and their amount of protein and fiber.

3. Kale Chips

Kale has gotten a tone of praise for its health benefits, which is an admittedly impressive list. Kale is filled with nutrients, Vitamin C, antioxidants and can strengthen your immune system. It’s hard to turn down something that can offer so much good that it can be eaten fresh or cooked.

Another great aspect of kale is that it can be turned into chips by baking them in an oven.

We recommend that you lightly salt the kale chips with sea salt for extra texture and flavor.

Conclusion

Summer is almost over, but there’s still plenty of healthy snacks for you to enjoy. In the future, we’ll make lists of healthy treats for different kinds of weather.
